Former Arizona Wildcats quarterback Nick Foles produced another winning performance Sunday, creating the likelihood that Philadelphia Eagles coach Chip Kelly will stick with him as the starter the rest of the season.

Foles continued to make a claim for that role in the Eagles’ 27-13 rout over the injury-depleted Packers without star quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Foles’ performance in the last two weeks (road games against Oakland and Green Bay): 34-of-46 passing, 634 yards, 10 touchdowns, no interceptions and a near-perfect 155.3 passer rating.

Foles has improved since Week 7 against Dallas, completing only 11 of 29 passes for 80 yards. He suffered a mild concussion in that game.

Kelly’s hire created speculation that Foles, a pocket passer, would be traded because of Kelly’s offense at Oregon required a mobile quarterback. What the skeptics never took into account: Foles’ poise, passing touch and ability to get the ball to the right players at the right time.

Most quarterbacks will succeed feeding athletic game-breakers like LeSean McCoy and DeSean Jackson.

Dan Buckner

— The Arizona Cardinals this week re-signed wide receiver Dan Buckner to the practice squad, replacing wide receiver Kerry Taylor, who was signed to the active roster of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Buckner (6-4, 215) rejoins the Cardinals after briefly spending time on Tampa Bay’s practice squad. He spent a week on the Cardinals’ practice squad earlier this season and was with the Cardinals at training camp prior to his Aug. 30 release. Buckner caught 103 passes for 1,379 yards and seven touchdowns in two seasons with the Wildcats.

— Another former Arizona Wildcats receiver Juron Criner, activated last week by Oakland for the first time this season, was inactive for Sunday’s game against New York Giants because of an injured shoulder. Criner caught three passes for 32 yards last week against the Eagles. He was part of 62 plays for the Raiders.
