While his former Arizona Wildcats teammate Nick Foles is preparing for the playoffs with the Philadelphia Eagles, Matt Scott goes into the offseason knowing he is in position to potentially create some of his own magic next season.

Scott was one of 10 practice-squad players signed Tuesday to reserve/future contracts by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Former UA defensive end D’Aundre Reed, a final cut by Minnesota and a part of San Francisco’s practice squad for two months, was also signed by Jacksonville after joining the team Dec. 17.

Scott and Reed count as part of Jacksonville’s 53-man roster next season. The Jaguars (4-12) may part ways with unrestricted free agent quarterback Chad Henne and backup Blaine Gabbert, who is under contract through 2014 but had an injury-marred season this year.

Jacksonville’s quarterbacks coach is Frank Scelfo, who coached Foles and Scott at Arizona under Mike Stoops.
