Kaleb Tarczewski can become only the second center to lead the Arizona Wildcats in free throw percentage
>> Kaleb Tarczewski is Arizona’s top free throw shooter at 78.3 percent. When was the last time the Arizona Wildcats were led at the stripe by a center? Actually not too long ago. Loren Woods led the Wildcats in free throw shooting in consecutive seasons in 1999-2000 (75.8 percent) and 2000-2001 (83 percent). If Tarczewski finishes as Arizona’s best at the line, he and Woods would be the only centers to lead the Wildcats in free-throw shooting in the history of the program.
>> Jordan Loveridge, an overlooked recruit from West Jordan, Utah, was passed over by all Pac-12 schools except Utah three years ago. Loveridge is a 6’6″ sophomore who averages 15.6 points and 7.6 rebounds a game. Has Arizona ever targeted a player from its bordering state to the north? Refresh my memory, but the only one I know of is Quynn Tebbs, a Salt Lake City product who was a reserve for the Wildcats in their 1996-97 championship season. He transferred to Weber State to conclude his career. Tebbs and his brothers own an insurance company in Salt Lake City: Tebbs Brothers Insurance Co.

What happened to Jordin Mayes, the guy who led his Los Angeles Westchester team in scoring against the likes of John Wall, Lance Stephenson and Doron Lamb?

Gabe York is the key player. He must shoot to his potential from the perimeter. He can keep the pressure off Nick Johnson and keep Johnson fresh by playing quality minutes. Matt Korcheck could play the type of role Eugene Edgerson provided Lute Olson: A bruiser who can provide a spark with an important rebound and hustle play. ARIZONA’S STRENGTHS VS. QUESTION MARKS
Per NCAA national statistic rankings out of 345 Division I teams

Arizona is No. 4 and 23-2 despite deficiencies with total steals, free-throw shooting, number of three-pointers made and three-point shooting percentage (34.5). In Pac-12 games, Arizona is shooting only 30.5 percent from three-point range.
Arizona is solid with its rebounding, defense in particular in the lane and taking care of the ball (an early-season problem).
T.J. McConnell is now second in the Pac-12 in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.63). Oregon’s Jonathon Loyd leads the conference at 2.64. With Loyd topping McConnell, no Arizona players lead the Pac-12 in a statistical category.
The only category led by a Utah player is Delon Wright’s 36.12 minutes played per game. Wright, however, is in the top 10 in five categories: Scoring, assists, steals, blocked shots and assist-to-turnover ratio. Wright, from Los Angeles, chose Utah over Gonzaga and Washington. He attended City College of San Francisco before transferring to the Utes. Former UCLA coach Ben Howland missed on a good one from his own backyard three years ago.
