Arizona athletic director Greg Byrne knows of the inevitable tomorrow: Nick Johnson will become the Wildcats’ seventh different player to win the Pac-12 Player of the Year award and the eigth selection overall (Sean Elliott earned it twice).

ESPN analyst Seth Greenberg rates Sean Miller as a national coach of the year candidate, let alone a sure-bet as the conference coach of the year.

As good as Aaron Gordon has been this year, many people I talked to during last summer’s AAU circut said Johnson would have more of an immediate impact on Arizona’s program.

Another talented Arizona recruit, Kadeem Allen, has emerged as one of the best the storied Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College program has produced.
