Arizona basketball recruit Stanley Johnson held up his Jordan 3’s with UA logos when he announced his school of choice (ESPNU)

Arizona coach Sean Miller will get the opportunity to coach his high-profile Class of 2014 recruit Stanley Johnson this summer during the Under-18 FIBA Americas Championships.

Miller, an assistant to Florida coach Billy Donovan, can closely observe Johnson first during the tryout session in Colorado Springs, Colo., from June 10-19. The tournament will be held this year in Colorado Springs from June 20-24.

Johnson is coming off his fourth straight California Open Division state title with Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei High School. He is presently in Chicago preparing for the McDonald’s All-American Game tomorrow at 6 p.m. on ESPN.

The West team, of which Johnson will play for, is coached by Elliott Pitts’ former high school coach, Frank Allocco of Concord (Calif.) De La Salle High School.


Johnson is the 20th McDonald’s All-American signed by Arizona.
