A day after joining KOLD Channel 13’s Damien Alameda for a chat about the departing Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, we had reason to talk about another Arizona Wildcats basketball player on the move — Brandon Ashley.
While I wonder/worry about Ashley’s ability to defend in the NBA — not athletic enough to guard small forwards, not big enough for NBA power forwards — he does have a nice offensive skill set, and it’s easy to see his shooting range continuing to increase.
Was it a smart move? Time will tell, of course, but Ashley is only 20 years old and can be playing basketball somewhere for a very long time. He was a very good Wildcat during the three years that really marked the rise of Arizona under coach Sean Miller.
Near the end of the interview, we got talking about other guys who (questionably) left early. That’s the part in which I called Marcus Williams “a knucklehead.”
Take a listen …
