The Southern Arizona Baseball All-Star series turned to the Division III/IV seniors Thursday night at Kino Stadium and Team Teal ran away with a 14-3 win over Team Copper (rosters listed below).

Although not as competitive as the Division II games, the D-III/IV All-Stars put on a show for the parents and fans who traveled several hours to see their boys play one more time.

Both teams scored an unearned run in the first inning and the 1-1 tie lasted until the fourth with Teal adding two more runs thanks to some key hits. Jake Whitfield (Willcox) and Luke Haines (Pusch Ridge) hit doubles in the inning and Daniel Diaz (Willcox) added a triple.

Meanwhile, Copper was held hit less until the bottom of the seventh. Alonzo Martinez beat out an infield hit to break up the no hitter. Copper would score two more runs in the eighth thanks to a triple by Brandon Urias-Buono (Walden Grove) and an groundout RBI from Jordan Casey (Palo Verde).

But three runs and only two hits weren’t nearly enough to keep up with the hot bats of Teal. Teal scored multiple runs in almost every inning the rest of the way with Manny Ramirez (Bisbee) setting the tone with a two-RBI triple in the sixth.

The series will end Friday night with the Division III/IV Futures All-Stars taking center stage. Underclassmen from as far away as Elfrida Valley Union are slated to take part.
