In his five years at Xavier from 2004-05 to 2008-09, Sean Miller produced one NBA draft selection: Derrick Brown, a second-round pick at No. 40 overall in 2009.

Some analysts questioned Miller’s ability to recruit five-star players and produce NBA-worthy talent when he was hired by Arizona in 2009. He has answered that concern emphatically.

In his first six seasons at Arizona, Miller has already produced five NBA draft picks and can add potentially four more tomorrow if Brandon Ashley and T.J. McConnell hear their name called in addition to Stanley Johnson and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson.

In Lute Olson’s first six seasons at Arizona (1983-84 to 1988-89), he produced six drafted players. But of those six, two were taken after the second round, which is today’s standard. To Olson’s credit, however, he started at Ground Zero at Arizona while Miller used Arizona’s tradition that Olson built to lure talent.
