Former Sahuaro standout Alex Verdugo hits for cycle




Former Sahuaro standout Alex Verdugo hit for the cycle tonight playing for the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes (A Adv) in the Los Angeles Dodgers system. named Verdugo the No. 7 prospect in the Dodgers organization.

The Quakes visited the Lancaster Jethawks tonight and Verdugo got the start in centerfield. He picked up a solo shot in the top of the second, a single in the third, a double in the seventh and a three-run triple in the eighth to complete the cycle.

His home run was his second with the club. His triple put the Quakes up 8-1.

Verdugo was drafted in the second round in 2014 by the Dodgers and the club promoted Verdugo from the Great Lakes Loons to the Quakes on August 14.
