As a senior in 2008, Mike Thomas almost had to sit out the Wildcats’ game against sixth-ranked USC eight games into the season.

He left Arizona Stadium in a walking boot in the previous week when Arizona beat No. 25 California 42-27. Thomas told reporters that team doctors told him he had tissue swelling in his right foot and ankle but no further damage.

Thomas was determined to play against the Trojans at Arizona Stadium.

“Ain’t nothing going to stop me,” he said. “I’m there.”

Thomas not only played, he led Arizona with six receptions for 45 yards in the 17-10 loss. He played all 13 games that season.
