This season two of my colleagues — Steve Rivera of GOAZCATS.com and Anthony Gimino of TucsonNewsNow.com — and I will pick the outcomes of Pac-12 games involving teams other than Arizona (to avoid questions of bias). Odds listed are of the Westgate Superbook in Las Vegas. …

STANFORD (2-1, 1-0) AT
OREGON STATE (2-1, 0-0)

7 p.m., Fox Sports 1

Pointspread: Stanford favored by 16

USC disappointed our panel (Steve Rivera, Anthony Gimino and myself) last week, losing at home to Stanford. At least yours truly picked the Cardinal to cover the 9.5-point spread.

The Cardinal will now try to back up that substantial victory as more than two touchdown favorites in Corvallis, Ore., tonight. Some of the details on the matchup:

— Stanford’s defense is ranked 32nd in the country in total yards allowed at only 312.7 yards per game and that’s with allowing 427 yards to USC. Oregon State ranks 109th in total offense at 322.3 yards per game, which is an alarming stat given two of their three games have come against the likes of Weber State and San Jose State. They mustered only 136 yards in total offense in their loss at Michigan.

— Oregon State ranks 17th in total defense, but that’s a very misleading stat inasmuch as they have played three bad offenses (Weber State, Michigan and San Jose State). Michigan gained 225 yards on the ground against the Beavers.

— The Beavers only returned two starters from a defensive unit that allowed 31.6 points per game and 406 yards per game last year.

— Stanford is 15-5 against the spread (ATS) in their last 20 road games after scoring 31 or more points in two straight games and 16-4 ATS in their last 20 road games after playing in a game where 70 or more combined points were scored.

— The Cardinal are also 21-5-1 ATS in their last 27 after scoring more than 40 and 29-14-1 ATS in their last 44 conference games.

My pick: Stanford will defeat Oregon State and cover.

Steve Rivera’s pick: Stanford will win and cover.

Anthony Gimino’s pick: Stanford will win but Oregon State will cover.
