Off-the-beaten-path storylines: Arizona Wildcats at Washington Huskies

[tps_title]Randall gives Arizona chance against aggressive defenses[/tps_title]

Arizona backup-turned-potential-savior at quarterback, Jerrard Randall, should not only start tomorrow night but also play significantly in the remaining games against USC, Utah and ASU.

All four of the remaining teams — Washington included — are known for their aggressive style with their defensive fronts.

With Anu Solomon not a threat running the ball, perhaps because of his concussion earlier this year, the best way for Arizona to move the ball is to have the strong, quick, athletic Randall maneuver around and past the line of scrimmage.

His strength is obvious by his ability to ward off tacklers anywhere and break free from the grasp of linemen and linebackers. Arizona needs that because Washington, USC, Utah and ASU will bring the heat. The four teams are among the top seven in the Pac-12 in sacks. They represent seven of the top 10 leaders in sacks in the Pac-12, including Washington linebackers Travis Feeney (fifth with 1.21 a game) and Cory Littleton (10th at 1.0 a game).

If Randall’s running ability can loosen up those defenses it can open up spaces for receivers and running backs Nick Wilson and Jared Baker.
