Compiling off-the-beaten-path storylines of Arizona’s game against ASU tomorrow while wondering if anybody thought going into the season the Wildcats would be in position to keep the Sun Devils out of a bowl game — not the Pac-12 championship — in this year’s Territorial Cup game …

WHAT IF ANU SOLOMON CAN’T GO?

The sophomore redshirt quarterback was listed as questionable in Thursday’s injury report for tomorrow’s game. Therefore, the Vegas line on the game has remained off the board, although in some sportsbooks, the Sun Devils are listed as 6-point favorites.

What if Solomon can’t play because of his second bout with a concussion this season, both on plays toward the end of when he tried to slide down to the turf?

Jerrard Randall would make his first career start against ASU (he started at Stanford earlier this season).

Since Arizona joined the Pac-10 in 1978, quarterbacks who make their first start against the Sun Devils are 9-6-1. Solomon broke a two-game losing streak last year in that regard after Matt Scott (2012) and B.J. Denker lost in their first and only starts against the Sun Devils.

You may not have guessed some quarterbacks to win their first game against ASU: Richard Kovalcheck in 2004 (34-27 in Tucson) and Jason Johnson in 2001. Johnson led the Wildcats to 31-24 win in Tempe in John Mackovic’s first season.
