Sean Rooks scored 24 points and hauled in eight rebounds, leading Arizona to a victory over rival UCLA, increasing it’s nation’s-best home win streak. Jud Buechler contributed 17 points and 12 rebounds. The Bruins lost despite 26 points and 12 rebounds from Don MacLean.
No. 45: 2/15/90, 71-50 win over ASU
Arizona held ASU to only 26.8 percent shooting from the field while setting a school record with 13 blocked shots behind the Tucson Skyline of Brian Williams (five blocked shots), Rooks (three) and Ed Stokes (three). Matt Muehlebach made five three-pointers, four in the first half.
No. 46: 3/1/90, 84-58 win over Oregon
Rooks ignited a 23-7 second-half run and was one of six players in double figures for No. 23 Arizona. Rooks scored 12 of his 15 points in the second half. Matt Othick made six of seven three-pointers and finished with a team-high 18 points.
