Off-the-beaten-path storylines: Arizona Wildcats vs. New Mexico

There should be odds published on whether Scooby Wright will tally more tackles against the Lobos than he had — only eight — in two brief stints this season.

Wright did not get a tackle for lost yardage against Texas-San Antonio or UCLA.

If this is his last game with Arizona — chances are he will forego his senior season and try the NFL — Wright unfortunately won’t finish among the school’s career leaders in tackles and sacks.

Wright has 254 career tackles, which is 21 shy of No. 23 on Arizona’s career list (Ronnie Palmer with 275).

He has 38.5 tackles for lost yardage. Arizona does not tabulate that career stat. Tedy Bruschi tallied 47 in two different seasons (team-leading 27.5 in 1993 and 19.5 in 1995).

Wright’s career sack total is 14.5. No. 10 on the Arizona career list is the late Chuck Osborne with 21.
