Ironwood Ridge infielder/pitcher Christian Pearcy signed with Rockford University on Wednesday night. Pearcy picked up two wins in relief last year while collecting 15 strikeouts in only 11 innings of work.

“Rockford University was the first school that talked to me,” Christian said. “The relationships I made with the coaches and players is something I couldn’t pass on. The visit basically proved to me that this school was the right choice.”

The 6-foot-4 senior will join four local athletes who are already on the Rockford roster: Joseph Valdez (Marana), Brenden Thaggard (Empire), Nick Steelman (Rincon) and Thomas Bolen (Amphitheater).
