Tyler Blohm wins Optimist Qualifier at Tucson National

This Optimist Tournament at Omni Tucson National is the Arizona qualifier for the Optimist International Junior Golf Championships at PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

According to the Arizona Optimist guidelines, qualified winners of the Boys 16-18 and Girls 15-18 division will get expenses paid into the Optimist International at PGA National Resort and Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida provided they are Arizona residents. Winners from other age brackets will get a $500 stipend, provided the winners are from Arizona.

Tyler Blohm (Catalina Foothills) won the Boys 16-18 Division by two strokes over Jack Snyder (Desert Vista) 143 to 145. Blohm and Snyder both shot even par on Sunday with a round of 70 on the Sonoran Course. Blohm finished with an ever-par 73 on the Catalina Course on Saturday.

Mikayla Fitzpatrick (Xavier) and Rachel Fujitani (Hamilton) both finished with an even 143 to win the Girls 15-18 Division while Alexandra Quihuis (Salpointe) finished one stroke back to take third place. Quihuis held a one-stroke lead after the first day.

Cole Harris (Salpointe) ran away with the Boys 14-15 Division in his last tournament in Arizona before returning to Indiana to finish high school.
