TENNIS: Misa Malkin wins fourth tournament in a row

Southwest Closed Junior Tennis Championships
Albuquerque: June 11-14

Tanque Verde eighth grader Misa Malkin won the Girls’ 14 Singles this past week at the Southwest Closed Junior Tennis Championships held in Albuquerque. The championship was the fourth in a row for Malkin.

Malkin (1) defeated Scottsdale standout Hailey Stelse (4) 6-2, 6-1 in the semifinal round and Angelina Ruja (3) of El Paso 6-3, 6-3 in the championship match.

In other action, incoming Salpointe standout Harsh Parikh won the Boys’ 16s title. Parikh (1) beat Trip Dillon (4) of Paradise Valley 6-3, 7-5 in the semifinal round and he came back after dropping the first set, to defeat Andrew Fucci (3) of Gilbert 6-7, 6-1,6-2 for the title.
