Day two of the Junior League Western Regional is in the books, sort of. A late monsoon forced the two late games featuring the remaining undefeated teams to be rescheduled for Monday morning at 8 a.m.

Two elimination games did take place with Oregon (2-1) defeating Montana 11-9 and Alaska (2-1) taking care of Flagstaff 11-4. Montana (0-2) and Flagstaff (0-2) have moved over to the Consolation Bracket and will play tonight at Arthur Pack, weather permitting.

Oregon and Alaska are scheduled to play in the late game against opponents yet to be determined.

Flagstaff took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning against Alaska thanks to a leadoff double from Maddie Luther and an RBI ground out from Shae Wilson. Alyssa Williams kept Alaska off the board until the top of the fourth when two unearned runs crossed the plate to give Alaska a 2-1 lead.

Khiana Smith held Flagstaff scoreless after the opening inning until a pair of Alaska errors opened the door in the bottom of the fifth for three runs with Merson Derr and Kylee Vickers picking up RBIs.

Down 4-2 Alaska exploded for seven runs in the top of the sixth and two more in the seventh for the 11-4 win. Lexie Davis paced the team with a two-run shot in the sixth.

Luther and Suzie Walzer also saw some pitching action for Flagstaff while Davis pitched the last three innings for Alaska.
