Tucson Champs to play for AABC 15U Ken Griffey, Jr. World Series championship

July 22-27: Surprise, Arizona

The Tucson Champs went undefeated during Pool Play at the American Amateur Baseball Congress (AABC) 15U Ken Griffey, Jr. World Series taking place in Surprise. The Tucson Champs beat Texas (14-6), New Mexico (10-2), New York (12-2) and Phoenix (11-2) in pool play.

Bracket play began on Monday and the Tucson Champs beat the Diamondbacks Baseball Academy 10-2 and then Albuquerque 4-0. The Colton, California Nighthawks beat the Tucson Champs 7-3 on Tuesday morning but the team from Tucson rebounded and beat Utah 8-4 Tuesday afternoon to advance to the championship round where they will face the Nighthawks on Wednesday morning.

The Tucson Champs (7-1) will need to beat Colton (7-0) twice under the double-elimination format. Ryan Grabosch went 2-for-3 with a double to lead Tucson. Trey Meza went 2-2.
