Salpointe sophomore running back Mario Padilla, who had three rushing touchdowns all season before tonight, finished with five in the Lancers’ 56-0 victory over Walden Grove. One of the touchdown runs was an 85-yard direct-snap sprint and another was a 31-yard reverse. Entering the game, Padilla had 544 yards on 82 carries with the longest run at 45 yards.

NOTABLE:

— Fourteen teams in games Thursday and Friday scored at least 50 points, with Bagdad topping them all with an 80-56 win over St. David. St. David was the only team that lost scoring 50-plus points. Bagdad was one of six teams with at least 60 points.

— Salpointe’s Mario Padilla scored five TDs against Walden Grove. He had three in the first half, highlighted by an 85-yard score following a direct snap. He also took a reverse 31 yards for a score in the first quarter. Padilla also scored on a 9-yard run in the first quarter. Trevor Volpe scored from 5 yards out in that quarter as well.

— Rincon running back/defensive back Ty-Jhai Grigsby scored six rushing touchdowns against Santa Rita and pulled down an interception.

— Ironwood Ridge’s Soma Helu, Daniel Peabody and Nathan Grijalva scored first-quarter touchdowns for Ironwood Ridge at Buena. Helu added another one in the second quarter.

Nick Brahler scored two TDs for Ironwood Ridge in the second quarter.

Cesar Olivas completed a 21-yard pass to Emilio Yepiz in the first quarter at Mountain View. Mountain View’s Caleb Ryden scored on a 3-yard run in the first quarter.

— In the second quarter, Isaiah Lovett’s circus catch put the Mountains up 13-7. It was the first of three TDs for Lovett. The Jaguars answered with an 11-yard TD run by Alex Courtemanche, putting his team up 14-13. Ryden then hit Sebastian Spencer for a 68-yard scoring strike.

— Mountain View was able to take a 28-21 lead in the third quarter on a Cesar Olivares scoring plunge. The Mountain Lions extended their lead to 42-21 on a 44-yard running score by Sebastian Spencer.

— Courtemanche scored twice more in the fourth quarter, finishing with three TDs.

— Catalina Foothills QB Rhett Rodriguez, the Arizona coach’s son, completed 4 of 5 passes for 114 yards and 2 TDs in the first half vs. Nogales to lead his team to a 42-0 lead at that point. Rodriguez finished completing 6 of 8 pass attempts for 159 yards with three touchdowns.

Dashiel Pudwill of Catalina Foothills rushed for 67 yards on six carries, including a 36-yard TD run. Bryan Beckon had a 60-yard scoring run to finish with 114 yards on four carries. Jimmy Stewart scored on a 40-yard fumble return and a 33-yard reception.

Wyatt Jeffries scored three TD runs in the first half as Empire built a 35-0 lead over Catalina in the first half.

— Arizona commit Drew Dixon of Sabino scored two TDs in the first half against Pusch Ridge, on a 12-yard reception and 1-yard run. He finished with all five of the Sabercats’ TDs, including three running, one passing and one receiving.

— Flowing Wells QB Dylan Allison completed a 25-yard pass to TJ Florence with 1 minute remaining in regulation to put the Caballeros ahead 10-3. The game went to two OTs before Flowing Wells won.

— Sahuarita RB Jacob Hoover Hoover finished with 20 carries for 162 yards and three touchdowns in the win over Tanque Verde.
