In recognition for his outstanding play in the month of November, Roadrunners Left Wing Brendan Perlini has been named CCM’s AHL rookie of the month. In November he scored 9 goals, 3 assists and 12 points in just 9 games, becoming the AHL’s leading goal scorer. Originally selected 12th overall in 2014 by the Coyotes, the 20-year-old was recalled by the Arizona Coyotes and is expected to make his NHL debut tonight against the Columbus Blue Jackets. On NHL network radio Coyotes GM John Chayka said he chose to call Perlini up because of his elite shot and skating ability. Perlini said that receiving the call-up gave him an unbelievable, overwhelming feeling and he immediately thought back to everyone who helped him on his road to the NHL.

That road included our great city of Tucson, a place that Brendan particularly enjoyed playing. He said that he loved downtown Tucson, saying that there always seems to be something going on and that it got him excited to play. Perlini also said that the outside of the city, where he lived, was quiet and relaxing making it the perfect place to focus on improving his game. Let’s hope that this most recent Roadrunners graduate takes all the success and lessons he learned in Tucson and turns it into a successful NHL career.
