FC Tucson to host preseason MLS action in Old Pueblo

For the sixth year FC Tucson will host some of America’s premier soccer clubs as they compete in preseason action while ramping up for the 2017 MLS season.

“This event is important to the community because it has brought groups together that are vital for the success of Tucson as a city,” FC Tucson General Manager Jon Pearlman said. “Through private and public partnership, great sponsors, the work of Pima County, the City of Tucson, Visit Tucson, and the Town of Oro Valley, FC Tucson is proud to again be the MLS Western Hub of Preseason and   bring the beautiful game to Southern Arizona.”

The reigning MLS Champions, Seattle Sounders FC, will be in town along with New York City FC, New York Red Bulls, Colorado Rapids, Sporting Kansas City, New England Revolution and Houston Dynamo, Real Salt Lake and San Jose Earthquakes. All will make appearances on various dates starting January 27th through February 25th.

Tucson soccer fans will also have the opportunity to welcome home several familiar faces during preseason. Ricardo Velazco (RSL), Justin Bilyeu (NYRB), and Justen Glad (RSL) will all experience a homecoming of sorts, with Velazco and Bilyeu having started their careers with FC Tucson, and Glad being a native Tucsonan.

Some of American soccer’s biggest names will be making the trip to Tucson as well. Fans will have an opportunity to see Tim Howard (Colorado), Andrea Pirlo and David Villa (NYCFC), Jordan Morris (Seattle), Darlington Nagbe (Portland), Kei Kamara (New England), Graham Zusi (Sporting Kansas City), Kyle Beckerman (Real Salt Lake), Chris Wondolowski (San Jose), Bradley Wright-Phillips and Sacha Kljestan (NYRB), and many more.
