Marana standout golfer Marisol Benavidez announced her commitment to play for South Mountain next year. A first team All-Southern Arizona selection, Benavidez took 22nd at state.

“I am excited and nervous,” Benavidez said. “I feel honored to still be playing golf and look forward to be part of a great team, with help and support from a great coach at South Mountain, Coach Aaron Puetz.

“I appreciate Marana coach George Corona, he believed in me, and he helped me with the mental part of the game. I appreciate my long time swing coach, Robert Escobel, he saw the potential in me and kept me consistent.”

“We are so proud of her,” her father John Benavidez added. “She puts in the work, is always positive and respectful. Golf continues to impact her life in such a positive way.”
