SOCCER PLAYOFFS: Salpointe girls to play for state championship

No. 4 Salpointe knocked off No. 1 Flagstaff in the PK round (4-1) Wednesday night to advance to the 4A state championship match scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 11 at 2 p.m. The Lancers took second place in the D-II playoffs last year under Becky Freeman.

The Lancers have won four state championships and this will be the program’s second final appearance since 2001. The Salpointe boys will play their championship match at 11:30 a.m.
