Gershon has extensively observed Akot, a Class of 2018 prospect who plays at Mt. Pleasant (Utah) Wasatch Academy. His scouting of Akot extended to Spain when the budding prospect played for Canada in the FIBA U17 World Championships last summer. Akot averaged 9.9 points and 2.9 rebounds through seven games in the event.

In the audio interview, Gershon touches on Akot’s early commitment (signing period is still eight months away), where he will fit in personnel wise in 2018-19 and who the young prospect reminds of him among past Wildcat small forwards.

Gershon also offers insight into the recruitment of Class of 2017 five-star wing Brian Bowen, who visited Arizona’s campus at the same time Akot did two weeks ago when the Wildcats hosted UCLA. Gershon said the decision of Bowen, of La Port (Ind.) La Lumiere High School, is down to Arizona and Creighton but Bowen is not in a rush to announce his choice. He explains that in the interview.
