Former Ironwood Ridge standout Mandy Lorenson named National Pitcher of the Week

Pima Community College softball pitcher Mandy Lorenson (Ironwood Ridge) was selected NJCAA Division I Pitcher of the Week on Wednesday, Mar. 22.

Lorenson, a freshman, went 3-0 with a 0.77 ERA in 18 innings pitched for the week of Mar. 13-19. She threw two no-hitters with 25 strikeouts and surrendered only two earned runs. She is 7-3 on the season with a 4.15 ERA with 71 strikeouts in 54 innings pitched.

Lorenson was selected ACCAC Division II Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday. The Aztecs went 6-0 with wins against South Mountain, Chandler-Gilbert and Arizona Western College.

This list was updated all year in an effort to recognize all former local prep stars who had gone on to achieve either academic and/or athletic awards at the next level. These are not high school awards but college and professional awards. NOT CHAMPIONSHIPS. If you are aware of anything I have missed along the way, please let me know.
