CHRIS MOON MEMORIAL SCHEDULE HERE

The Chris Moon Memorial Statue was unveiled on Monday night at Cherry Field. Representatives from the Governor’s office, Rep. Raul Grijalva’s office and the TUSD Governing Board were all in attendance.

The event would not have been possible without the endless dedication of Tucson High athletic trainer Mike Boese. Boese put this project on his shoulders and the Tucson community owes him a debt of gratitude for his efforts.

Boese introduced several speakers including TUSD Board President Michael Hicks, Badger baseball coach Oscar Romero, Pima athletic director Edgar Soto, 82nd ABN 2-508 PIR Mark Faldowski and Marsha and Brian Moon.

The family of former Tucson High Wrestling, Track and Football standout Sgt. Martin A. Lugo were also in attendance. Lugo was killed in action on Aug. 19, 2010.

The Lugo family was presented with the “Honor and Remember” flag in a very emotional ceremony.

The artists recognized were Ann La Rose and her husband Bruce La Rose.

Joel Hudgins and Conway Tile, Cal-Portland Cement, Proios Sandblasting and Painting, Border Construction Specialties, Hook Crane Service and Mike and Laura Viti of Legacies Alive were also recognized.
