PIMA GOLF: Desiree Hong, Samantha Hacker & Abby Miller earn conference honors

University of Arizona commit Desiree Hong (Pima)

Pima sophomore Desiree Hong (Sahuaro) was named ACCAC Conference Player of the Year for the second straight season. She was also selected first team All-ACCAC conference and first team All-Region.

Hong averaged a 74.8 per round played as she shot a 72 or below in seven of the 12 rounds this season. She never finished below second place in any tournament. She won two tournaments and tied for first place in three of them. Hong has verbally committed to play for the University of Arizona next fall.

Samantha Hacker (Pima)

Sophomore Samantha Hacker (Sahuaro) was named second team All-ACCAC for the second straight year and first team All-Region. She shot on average an 85 per round.

Abby Miller (Pima)

Freshman Abby Miller (Ironwood Ridge) was named second team All-Region. Her best round came at the final round of the Pima Invitational after she shot a 76.

This list was updated all year in an effort to recognize all former local prep stars who had gone on to achieve either academic and/or athletic awards at the next level. These are not high school awards but college and professional awards. NOT CHAMPIONSHIPS. If you are aware of anything I have missed along the way, please let me know.
