Former Ironwood Ridge tennis standout Marissa Baca named Northern Colorado assistant coach

Marissa Baca (Ironwood Ridge) enters her first year as women’s tennis assistant coach after finishing her stellar career as a player for Northern Colorado. As a senior in 2016-17, Baca held a 9-13 singles record and played even better in doubles with partner Anna Battersby. The duo finished 14-4, a team best, and went 9-1 in conference play, helping the Bears make it back to the Big Sky Conference tournament. As a junior, she went 9-10 in singles and 9-5 in doubles, finishing the year with the highest duel winning percentage on the team.

Baca is also the two-time recipient of All-Academic Team honors for the Big Sky Conference as a student athlete. Baca is also a four-time TucsonCitizen.com and AllSportsTucspn.com All-Star.

Baca was an Arizona 5A State Doubles Champion her freshman season and a 5A State Doubles Finalist in 2011, 2012 and 2013. The Nighthawks won the 5A State Team Championship in 2012 and advance to 5A State Team Finals in 2013.
