Football Thursday Night Week Seven: Star of the Night — Sabino’s Bell

Sabino QB Alex Bell, a senior, passed for four touchdowns and ran for another in the host Sabercats’ convincing 42-0 win over a good Catalina team tonight.

Bell completed 14 of 22 pass attempts for 244 yards and did not throw an interception. His four touchdown passes were to four different receivers. He rushed for 16 yards on two carries.

Isaiah Smotherman led Sabino on the ground with 94 yards on 13 carries with a touchdown.

The Sabercats improved to 5-1 with the victory while Catalina fell to 5-2.

Sabino travels to Pusch Ridge next Friday in another big showdown. Pusch Ridge is 5-0 heading into its game at Empire tomorrow night.

— Terrell Hayward’s punt return for a TD increased Cienega’s lead to 24-13.
— Hayward then completed a 38-yard TD pass to Jerry White to increase the lead to 30-13.
— Salpointe’s Arturo Alcarez scored from 18 yards to cut the lead to 30-20.

— Mountain View wins 28-23 FINAL
— Nick Brahler with a rushing and receiving TD for the Hawks in the first quarter.
— Edward Gastelum had a rushing TD to narrow the lead to 14-7 in the second quarter.
— Josemaria Alcala connected with Josh Hart for a 42-yard TD pass to put Mountain Lions up 21-17.
— Wyatt Adams scored on a 6-yard TD run to increase the lead to 28-17.

CHOLLA (4-3) at Desert View (3-3) Region
— Cholla wins 39-36 FINAL
— Cholla QB Jordan Porter scored the first TD on a run
— On 4th and 3, Desert View’s Salat rushed for a 54-yard touchdown to put the Jaguars up 36-32.

Buena (4-2) at SAHUARO (3-3)
— Sahuaro wins 31-21 FINAL
— Kobi Bell threw a 45-yard TD pass late in the fourth quarter for Sahuaro.

Flowing Wells (1-5) at MARANA (4-2) Region
— Marana wins 55-0 FINAL
— Trenton Bourguet completed a 30-yard TD pass to Jesus Valenzuela to open the scoring. He connected on another 35-yard TD pass to Teon Simmons in the first quarter.
— Zach Roberts’ 1-yard TD plunge put Marana up 21-0.
— Valenzuela’s 60-yard punt return for a TD mounted the lead to 28-0.
— Rene Valenzuela’s 18-yard TD run in the second quarter increased the lead to 34-0
— Roberts with another rushing TD (from 15 yards) to increase the lead to 41-0.
— Alfred Ebunoha increased Marana’s scoring with a 10-yard rushing TD.
— Cody Smith’s 10-yard TD run increased the lead to 55-0 in the third quarter.
