VOLLEYBALL: Tanque Verde, St. David & Gregory School stopped in quarterfinals

No. 12 Tanque Verde came up with the upset of the day after taking out No. 3 Safford 3-1 in the opening round of the 3A playoffs held at Camelback High School this morning. The magic did not hold up and the Hawks fell to No. 4 Blue Ridge in the quarterfinal round later in the day.

No. 12 Benson and No. 15 St. Augustine lost in the first round of 2A action, but No. 8 Gregory School knocked off No. 8 Bowie/San Simon and No. 6 St. David beat No. 11 Rock Point to make it to the quarterfinals of the 1A Conference.

Both St. David and The Gregory School were eliminated later in the day in the quarterfinal round.

No. 3 Salpointe is the last team from Southern Arizona alive in the state playoffs.
