FOOTBALL PLAYOFFS: Pusch Ridge, Sabino & Santa Cruz advance

Pusch Ridge beat Wickenburg 67-0 on Saturday night to advance to the quarterfinal round of the 3A playoffs. The Lions will host Northwest Christian next Friday night.

Pusch Ridge senior QB Christian Fetsis went 5-for-5 for 123 yards and two touchdowns. Fetsis also rushed six times for 95 yards and another TD.

Sophomore RB Ryan Garcia rushed for 71 yards and he collected four TDs. Matthew McLeod scored twice, rushed for 65 yards and he added 64 yards receiving. Max Atkinson had a 60-yard interception return for a touchdown.

The Lion defense limited Wickenburg to 128 yards of offense.

In other action, Sabino beat Fountain Hills 49-20 and will travel to play Benjamin Franklin in the 3A quarterfinal round while Empire fell to Casteel 56-7.

Santa Cruz advances to the 2A quarterfinals thanks to a 61-26 win over Pima.

There are now seven teams from Southern Arizona left in the playoffs.
