Miller, UA concentrate on Buffaloes not Boyle’s comments … hmmm

About 78 hours before No. 11 Arizona is to face Colorado in McKale Center – in a rematch that saw Colorado defeat UA three weeks ago – Wildcats coach Sean Miller took the high road when asked about Colorado coach Tad Boyle’s quote about beating Arizona.

Miller said his “focus is on my team and that’s the thing that you learn being able to take a team from one game to the next” before veering off into Arizona’s recent sweep in the Bay area.

Then he spoke briefly about Colorado, saying “we have to be a better team this time around, more ready for the game than the last time.”

Staying focused is his priority, Miller said, and that’s where “all our focus is.”

When asked if he still has a good relationship with Boyle, Miller didn’t bite: “Our focus is on this week.”

Arizona center Dusan Ristic said they “don’t talk about outside noise that much” and just play.

After beating Arizona, 80-77, Boyle was nonchalantly asked if there was more satisfaction in beating Arizona given they were a team under investigation by the FBI, and he said: “Absolutely. It’s ironic we’re playing Arizona. I’ve got great respect for Sean Miller and the type of coach he is. They recruit very, very well. USC has recruited very, very well. The two most talented teams in our league from top to bottom are USC and Arizona.

“So, hell yes there’s extra satisfaction. I’ve got great respect for Sean, helluva coach. I’ve got great respect for Andy Enfield. But to answer your question: Hell. Yes.”

Let’s see what happens Thursday night when the two teams meet. Enfield has already made his statement with a late-game timeout with 21 seconds left and his team up by 12.
