Catalina Foothills to 4A state championship game; Nogales stays alive

No. 2 Catalina Foothills beat No. 11 St. Mary’s 2-1 to advance to the 4A state championship game to be played on Monday, May 14. This is the fifth time the school has played for a state championship (2002, 2004, 2005, 2010).

No. 1 Nogales beat No. 5 Sunrise Mountain 6-0 to force an “If Game” Saturday night with the winner moving on to face Catalina Foothills. The championship game will be single elimination.

Desert Christian took third place at the Division III state golf tournament held at the Omni Tucson National on Tuesday and Wednesday. Johnny Gleason finished in 10th place.
