Rincon beat Copper Hills 13-0 Friday night to win the District 12 9-11 Baseball championship held at Michael Perry Park. The team from the Vail area advances to the state tournament slated to start on July 14 in Mesa. Rincon will join the District 5 champion Canyon View team at state.

The 9-11 Rincon team, for the most part, won the 8-10 state championship last year, going 9-0 in the process. The team is 4-0 this year so far.

One game on tap tonight and that is a District 12 Little League match between Copper Hills and Santa Rita at Perry Park. The winner of that game will face Sunnyside Monday night for the championship of the division. Sunnyside is unbeaten in the double-elimination format.

The Little League state tournament will be in Scottsdale starting July 17. Western qualified from District 5.
