Holt nominated to play in USSSA All-State Games in Texas

Salpointe Catholic freshman Julia Holt, a standout with Desert Thunder’s 16U team although she is only 14, has been nominated to participate in the prestigious USSSA All-State Games in McKinney, Texas, on Aug. 4.

Holt is a towering pitcher who is being privately trained by former Arizona standout and assistant coach Alicia Hollowell.

During the weekend, Holt helped Desert Thunder finish 5-2 in the USSSA South National Championship in Frisco, Texas. Holt earned an MVP medallion.

The All-State Games in McKinney is a one-day event in which each team will be coached by a college coach from Louisiana-Monroe, Texas Southern, Northwestern State, Texas A&M-Texarkana, Langston, Northeastern State, North Central Texas and Tyler (Texas) Junior College.

Holt is the daughter of former Arizona football player Julius Holt, who is also the American Youth Football director in Tucson.
