It was a big recruiting weekend for the Arizona football team. The Wildcats held their sophomore/junior day, as well as hosting several seniors-to-be. They appear to have made a good impression on several players, as well as landing a pair of commitments.
The first player to commit on the day was Eddie Siaumau, a 6-2, 210-pound safety, who some believe could also develop into a linebacker. He hails from Leone (American Samoa) and committed while on a visit to Tucson.
Siaumau is a 247Composite 3-star prospect and a Polynesian Bowl selection.
247Sports national recruiting director Brandon Huffman called him a “big time safety” in a tweet on Saturday.
About 30 minutes later 3-star cornerback Maurice Gaines announced his commitment to the Wildcats. Gaines is a 3-star corner from St. Thomas More HS/Oakdale, CT. Like Siaumau, Gaines was on campus over the weekend.
