Tucson takes third at American Legion West Regional

AMERICAN LEGION WEST REGION

Tucson Firebirds Post 7 took third place at the American Legion West Region Tournament this past week in Denver after dropping a 7-3 semifinal game to Nevada on Saturday.

Michael Corral went 3-for-3 with a double and a triple to lead Tucson against Las Vegas. Daniel Durazo and Ryan Grabosch picked up the other two hits recorded by the Firebirds. Andre Greene and Christian Pavlovich saw pitching action.

Grabosch led the team with seven RBI at the Western Regional, Durazo picked up a home run to go along with five RBI, David Kelch finished 8-13 (.615) and Corral went 6-11 (.545), Durazo went 5-12 (.417) and Grabosch finished 5-12 at the plate. Mario Bejarano and Raymundo Leon picked up wins.

Nevada (4-0) is taking on Texas (3-1) for the championship on Sunday. Las Vegas beat League City 12-0 on Friday.

Arizona (2-2) was coached by former Tucson head coach Oscar Romero.
