Empire RB Wyatt Jeffries named APS Player of the Week

A very difficult decision again this week with several players putting in excellent performances Friday night. Salpointe standout Bijan Robinson had his usual great outing as did Tombstone standout Tyler Wilridge.

Salpointe linebacker Ray Figueroa collected 12 tackles and 3 sacks in a 41-15 victory over Cactus. All of those performances have been forwarded to the ED Doherty Award committee. The Ed Doherty Award recognizes the best player in the state. Robinson and Wilridge have already been recognized by the Ed Doherty Committee.

The Southern Arizona APS Digital/Tucson Conquistadores Player of the Week award goes to Empire running back Wyatt Jeffries. The senior rushed for 177 and 2 TDs on 20 carries to lead Empire past Palo Verde 55-12.

To be considered for the Player of the Week and the Ed Doherty Award, all game stats need to be entered by Sunday at 4 p.m. on either MaxPreps or Hudl. Only coaches can email or message stats.

Jeffries will receive his award this week at practice.
