Cats add 2020 QB, lose back-up

Over the weekend Arizona hosted over 50 of the state’s best football recruits. On Wednesday they landed their first recruit of the 2020 class when Gilbert HS quarterback Will Plummer verbally committed.

The 6-2, 205 pounder is rated by 247Sports as the No. 31 Pro Style Passer and the No. 666 overall prospect in the class. He is rated as the No. 3 QB in the state of Arizona behind Jack Miller and JD Johnson who are committed to Ohio State and Michigan respectively.

Plummer also had offers from Colorado, Oklahoma State, and Oregon State among others.

Last season he passed for 3,240 and 29 touchdowns. He also gained 515 yards on the ground, adding three more scores.

His brother Jack Plummer is a quarterback at Purdue.

2018 Video Highlights

Reserve quarterback K’Hari Lane has left the program and enrolled at Hutchison Community College in Kansas. Lane redshirted in 2017 and did not play last season. He was not expected to compete for playing time this season.
