Sahuarita girls to 3A soccer quarterfinal round; Basketball & Wrestling playoffs start Thursday

Wrestling starts this week in Prescott Valley (Andy Morales/AllSportsTucson.com)

 

No. 9 Sahuarita beat No. 8 Sabino 3-1 on Wednesday to advance to the quarterfinal round of the 3A soccer playoffs where the Mustangs will take on the top-seeded Yuma Catholic Shamrocks on Saturday at 2 p.m.

No. 12 Pusch Ridge fell to No. 5 Anthem Prep 2-1 in the other 3A playoff game featuring teams from Southern Arizona.

The first day of the 1A South Basketball Section Tournament taking place at ASDB is in the books with the finals taking place on Thursday. The winner of the section tournament will earn the second automatic playoff berth from the 1A South Region.

The 4A-6A soccer and basketball play-in tournaments are also taking place on Thursday.

The first day of the Division III and IV state wrestling tournament is also scheduled for Thursday in Prescott Valley.
