Basketball Playoffs: 7 Southern Arizona Teams Advance

Friday turned out to be a very big day and night for several basketball teams from Southern Arizona with four girl’s teams and three boy’s teams surviving to live another day.

No. 5 Tanque Verde defeated No. 21 Monument Valley 40-29 in the first game of the 3A playoffs held at Amphitheater Friday night and No. 1 Sabino took out No. 16 Paradise Honors 54-20 in the nightcap. The two teams advance to the quarterfinal round set for Monday in Prescott Valley. MORE ON THOSE GAMES AT AZPREPS365.COM

In 1A action, No. 3 Baboquivari beat No. 15 Cibecue 67- 34 and No. 9 St. David beat No. 8 Grand Canyon 60-59 and the two teams will play in the quarterfinal round Saturday in the Prescott area.

For the boys, No. 4 Salpointe beat No. 12 Mesquite 80-55 at home and No. 11 Catalina Foothills beat No. 3 Buckeye 57-54 in overtime. The two teams will play in the 4A semifinal round next Friday night at GCU.

No. 2 Gregory School beat No. 15 Seligman 65-46 in the 1A playoffs to advance to the quarterfinals on Saturday, to be played at Yavapai.
