Monday afternoon, the Tucson Roadrunners revealed an official, permanent third jersey for the first time in team history. Despite today’s announcement, we will have to wait until next season to see the new jerseys out on the ice.
The Roadrunners’ new alternate uniforms are based on their NHL affiliate, the Arizona Coyotes’, third jersey. At the start of this season, the Coyotes reintroduced the so-called “Kachina jerseys” that they wore when they first moved to Phoenix back in 1996 as their third jersey.
The Coyotes third jersey, shown above, is widely considered one of the best third jerseys in the league and formerly served as the team’s away uniform from 1996 to 2003. The Coyotes wear them every Saturday night at home, which suggests that the Roadrunners might opt for a similar arrangement next season.
Tucson’s Kachina jersey will be a great addition to the Roadrunners already excellent pair of uniforms and gives fans something to look forward to for next season.
