Bailey Thompson, Kellye Springstead, Nic Conway, Andie Larkins, Erik Migueles, Brianna Hardy & Austin Bryan earn weekly honors

Bailey Thompson & Kelley Springstead (WAC Graphic)

Bailey Thompson (Canyon del Oro) was named Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Hitter of the Week for Seattle. Thompson hit .857 (6-of-7) with a 1.143 slugging percentage and a .900 on base percentage with a pair of doubles and four RBIs as the Redhawks went 3-0 on the road at Utah Valley last week. She also added two runs scored, two walks and a hit by pitch. Thompson opened the week with a 3-for-3 performance with a double and a pair of RBIs. In the first game on Saturday, she was 2-for-2 with a double, two walks and two RBIs.

This was Thompson’s second Hitter of the Week recognition.

Kellye Springstead (Tanque Verde) was named WAC Pitcher of the Week for Cal Baptist. Springstead appeared in four of the Lancers’ five games last week, making four starts with three complete games. She posted a 1.17 ERA and held opponents to a WAC-best .189 batting average. Springstead struck out a WAC-high 22 batters over 24.0 innings while allowing just four walks. In a 3-2 loss to UC Riverside to open the week, she allowed three unearned runs on five hits while striking out eight. In a 5-2 win against NM State on Friday, Springstead gave up just five hits, a walk and two runs while striking out seven. She then threw a shutout in a 2-0 win on Saturday with seven strikeouts and just three hits allowed.

This was Springstead’s second Pitcher of the Week recognition.

Nic Conway (Yale)

Nic Conway (Catalina Foothills) earned on a spot on the Ivy League Softball Honor Roll for Yale for her performances last week.

This was Conway’s second Honor Roll recognition.

Brianna Hardy (PC)

Brianna Hardy (Buena) was named ACCAC Division 2 Pitcher of the Week for Phoenix College. Hardy went 5-0 on the week while striking out 51 batters. In addition to pitching, Hardy batted .588 with 2 home runs and 7 RBIs.

This was Hardy’s third Pitcher of the Week recognition.

Austin Bryan (Pima)

Austin Bryan (Sahuarita) was named ACCAC Division I Pitcher of the Week for Pima. He pitched 10 innings giving up one run with 15 strikeouts and no walks. He started the week with a win in a relief appearance. He threw the final three innings giving up one hit with four strikeouts against the Vaqueros. He started against the Roughriders on Saturday and threw a complete-game giving up one run on four hits with 11 strikeouts.

This was Bryan’s second Pitcher of the Week recognition.

Andie Larkins (SU)

Andie Larkins (Sahuaro) went 1-0 with a 1.00 ERA and four strikeouts in one appearance last week to earn a WAC Pitcher of the Week nomination for Seattle.

This was Larkin’s second Pitcher of the Week nomination.

Erick Migueles (Utah)

Erick Migueles (Canyon del Oro) earned a Pac-12 Baseball Player of the Week nomination this past week for Utah. He went 3-3, with three doubles and three RBI against USC.

This list will be updated all year in an effort to recognize all former local prep stars who have gone on to achieve either academic and/or athletic awards at the next level. These are not high school awards but collegiate and professional recognitions. NOT CHAMPIONSHIPS. If you are aware of anything I have missed along the way, please let me know.

Andy Morales was recognized by the AIA as the top high school reporter in 2014 and he was awarded the Ray McNally Award in 2017 and he has been a youth, high school and college coach for over 30 years. His own children have won multiple state high school championships and were named to all-state teams.
