Salpointe Catholic’s Bijan Robinson Earns Running Back MVP at Rivals Challenge

Add another achievement to Bijan Robinson’s long list.

The Salpointe senior earned the Running Back MVP of the Rivals Five-Star Challenge Camp in Atlanta on Tuesday.

Robinson has drawn national attention lately for his recent official visits of Ohio State, USC and Texas. Each school is boasting a significant chance of landing him. Ohio State and Texas are also recruiting his Salpointe teammate Lathan Ransom. Ransom also has Notre Dame, LSU and Oklahoma in his final five.

At 4,801 career rushing yards, Robinson is only 1,077 yards away from the big-school record (5,878) and 2,643 yards away from the state record (7,544).

Salpointe coach Dennis Bene said the recent official visits were the first time Robinson’s family could go with him. He took unofficial visits before.

“I think it’s significant for him that his family is there with him, his grandfather (longtime Pac-12 referee Cleo Robinson), grandmother and mom,” Bene said. “He respects them so much. They are great people. They will help him stay focused and think about the important elements of the school — the academics, the student life, how he will be taken care of. All of that.”
