Desert View RB Carlos Alvarez named APS Digital/Tucson Conquistadores Player of the Week

Desert View sophomore running back Carlos Alvarez gained 276 yards on 25 carries to help lead the Jaguars past Flowing Wells 40-37 last Friday night. Alvarez also scored four touchdowns to help move the team to 5-3 on the year. He also pulled down a 32-yard pass to finish with 308 yards of total offense.

For his efforts, Alvarez was named APS Digital/Tucson Conquistadores Player of the Week and he will receive his banner and plaque this week.

Alvarez has 869 yards rushing on the year and the team will visit Mountain View this Friday and finish the regular season at home against Empire on Nov. 1.

OTHER NOTABLES

Benson RB Carson Barney, a senior, had 11 rushes for 152 yards and two TDs. He also had a 48-yard kickoff return.

Benson RB Jace Barney, Carson’s younger brother who is a sophomore, rushed for 101 yards on 16 carries with three TDs.

St. David QB Logan Davis completed 10 of 14 passes for 186 yards with five TDs and also had a rushing TD.
