As everyone has heard, Arizona changed its defensive coordinator by firing Marcel Yates and promoting former Wildcat Chuck Cecil on an interim basis. Cecil played in the late 80’s for coaches Larry Smith and Dick Tomey during his illustrious career. During that time, Cecil played with countless all-conference players that went on to play in the NFL. One of those players was running back David Adams.
Adams played with Cecil for two seasons in 1985 and 1986, going 17-6-1 during that time, wining the Aloha Bowl and tying Georgia in the Sun Bowl.
I talked to Adams about Cecil’s promotion from adviser to defensive coordinator under coach Kevin Sumlin.
