Bijan Robinson earns All-American recognition

Salpointe RB Bijan Robinson earned First-Team All-American status by MaxPreps on Monday. Robinson joined Clovis, California RB Kendall Milton and Lakeland, Florida RB Demarkcus Bowman on the First Team.

Robinson is headed to Texas, Milton to Georgia and Bowman to Clemson.

“One of the best players in state history capped off his remarkable career rushing for 2,235 yards and 38 touchdowns while averaging 17.7 yards per carry. Headed to Texas, he finished his career with the second most rushing yards in Arizona history (7,036) and is also the state’s all-time leader in total touchdowns with 114.”

Saguaro kicker Parker Lewis also made the First Team and Saguaro DB Kelee Ringo made the Second Team as a DB.

Robinson is the only two-time Ed Doherty winner in Arizona history.


Andy Morales was recognized by the AIA as the top high school reporter in 2014, he was awarded the Ray McNally Award in 2017, a 2019 AZ Education News award winner and he has been a youth, high school and college coach for over 30 years. He was the first in Arizona to write about high school beach volleyball and high school girls wrestling. His own children have won multiple state high school championships and were named to all-state teams. Andy is the Southern Arizona voting member of the Ed Doherty Award, recognizing the top football player in Arizona, and he was named a Local Hero by the Tucson Weekly for 2016.
