In the third game of the MLK Classic, Cienega (15-3) faced Casteel (5-13) in what most thought would be a runaway game for Cienega. However, that wasn’t the case as Casteel’s press caused issues for Cienega all game long.
The game was back and forth through the first three quarters. Then, in the fourth quarter, the game changed on a dime. After technical free throws, Casteel was able to jump on Cienega going on an eight to nothing run put themselves up 62-54 with just over five minutes left in the game.
Cienega would go on a run of their own led by J.T. Elder, who finished with 23-points only to come up short 75-68. Elder was the player of the game for Cienega in his first game back from his ankle injury.
